Ground Zero review

Capturing the pain.

Lesbians wrestling in mud whilst naked!!! Oh wait, wrong movie.

Some of you might have spotted some shirts bearing the logo "Rotting Corpse Films" around the races lately. Well, this is the tag of Australia's hottest new extreme sports production company. Rotting Corpse Films was started by Dane Killmore and Adam Evans, a couple of guys from Kempsy in NSW. They had a vision to showcase Australia's best local talent, and this is just what they have done. Ground Zero follows NSW state series, and Australian National series downhill racing scene. Along with the racing there’s enough freeriding action and general shenanigans to satisfy us all. Now I'd like to say "this movie kicks ass" but that would be the understatement of the year, possibly the century, in fact it’s both.

What makes this movie so good you ask?

Well I don’t remember asking you a damn thing! Anyway, the filming is awesome; it totally captures the atmosphere of the local racing scene, down to the dust, the mud and the blood it's all there. I know how it is to be out there riding and to see some idiot filming you stuff up each section, well now you get to see it another perspective and this is it, professional race side footage. Theres footage from the races at Nundle, Majura, Killingworth, Ourimbah and Thredbo. There’s heaps more to see from Local trails and a great bonus secton with 'ryan' and a local skate park busting it huge.

I spoke briefly with Adam about Ground Zero. he concured that there was a lot of hard work and effort put into this fiolm, not only from him and Dane but also from Dane's father, who is credited for a lot of the early race footage. Right now the guys are starting serious work on the sequel “Ground Zero 2”. I’m not sure what to expect, but I can guarantee from this teaser that it’s going to involve crazy riding, more racing and some extreme drinking. Note: the teaser isn't available at the moment but if someone could host it for me could they let me know.

The movie doesn’t disappoint in any sections, especially the Thredbo section which rocks, and not only because I’m in it. That's right, me. I think including my riding in any section is going to guarantee success. Just kidding I don’t really think that… I know it. The Thredbo section has great riding from some of Australia's fastest riders; the track is awesome and is captured brilliantly with a soundtrack to match.

For those of you dying to get a look at this movie you can reach Rotting Corpse Films through their website here. The movie is available on DVD from any good local bike store or from the Rotting Corpse Films website. If they don't have it in your local store then make them order you a copy. Price is $25 from Rotting Corpse Films.

See you on the tracks
